The objective of the National Research Programme "Antimicrobial Resistance" (NRP 72) is to contribute to reducing antimicrobial resistance as well as decreasing its negative impact on the therapy of infectious diseases.

Since antimicrobial-resistant bacteria are present in human and animal hosts as well as in the environment, NRP is addressing the issue with a one-health approach.

The overall funding for NFP 72 amounts to CHF 20 million for 5 years of research.
